Networking events is often a chore. Too often you run through the same old lines, “So what do you do for work?” Boring and repetitive, not to mention dry right? Then you go to parties, BBQ’s and gatherings and yup they mention that dreaded word again: work. It’s not that work is painfully excruciating (for some this might be true). But isn’t it about time we talk about something we can actually really relax and smile about? We’re talking about hobbies! Talking about what we actually really love to do in our spare-time. ‘Hobby’ aims to encourage people to talk about their hobbies through monthly gatherings where various speakers will get their 5 minutes of hobby-fame. It’ll be a nice change from work conferences that’s for sure! A great chance to zip out of our serious suits and indulge in some old-fashion fun yes?

‘Hobby’ is currently only located in NYC although it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start one locally. Even if it is a small gathering with friends, try omitting the word ‘work’ in all conversations as a starter. Now THAT would be pretty hard work! ;)
